The AFDO Certificate of Course Completion shows that you have completed a training course that meets the requirement of the FDA Seafood HACCP regulation. Although the FDA regulation does not require this course or the AFDO certificate, sections of the FDA regulation do require that a "trained individual" write the company's HACCP plan, perform periodic verification of the HACCP plan and review your HACCP records within a week from when they are generated. To view a copy of the FDA regulation click here. (To return to this page, use the back button on your browser).
To receive the AFDO Certificate of Course Completion, you will need to complete both the Internet course and attend a Second Segment session. To see a list of scheduled Second Segment sessions and a list of instructors by state who conduct HACCP training click here (To return to this page, use the back button on your browser). To make the best use of your time, you should plan on beginning the Internet course at least two weeks before the Second Segment session that you plan to attend and no more than three months prior to the session. When you have completed the Internet course you will receive an E-mail from Cornell University stating that you've completed Segment One of the Seafood HACCP Training Program. You'll need to print out this E-mail notification and bring it to your Segment Two class.
If you do not want to receive the AFDO Certificate of Course Completion, you can register for the Internet course at any time. When you have completed the Internet course you will receive an E-mail from Cornell University stating that you've completed Segment One of the Seafood HACCP Training Program. This E-mail recognition is not equivalent to an AFDO "Certificate of Course Completion."
